The Indian Constitution provides a five year tenure to the State Legislative Assemblies. It is now election time for 7 States. As the States of Goa, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Manipur, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand go to polls this year, the Election Commission has announced polls dates and phases for Manipur, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh and Goa. The poll dates for Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh will be announced later this year.
Political parties are out on the battle ground, some fighting to keep their turf and others fighting to acquire new ones. Watch how the saga of the great Indian democracy unfolds!
